Juna N Joey, Palm Beach Singing Duo, to Compete on Nickelodeon’s ‘America’s Most Musical Family’

Juna and Joey DeFeo attend the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach.

Their group, Juna N Joey, will soon be featured on a new music competition show on Nickelodeon, America’s Most Musical Family.

“It’s kind of like The Voice, but for families,” Juna DeFeo, 14, a freshman, told WPTV.

Juna started singing and playing the piano when she was 4 years ago, and her brother Joey, a sports guys, quickly followed suit.

“I went to one of her lessons one day, and I was singing on the couch and she was like, wait, can you sing?” said Joey DeFeo, 17, a senior at Dreyfoos.

For the past two years they’ve been performing together and writing their own songs, many of which you can hear on their YouTube page.

“I’ll do a solo in a song and she’ll do the harmonies, and sometimes she does the solo,” said Joey.

“We switch off between who has the lead of the song and who has harmonies,” said Juna.

Now Juna N Joey are going national on America’s Most Musical Family, which features celebrity judges like Grammy Award-winning artist Ciara, Nick Lachey from 98 Degrees, and Broadway star Debbie Gibson.

“We’re still so excited, we can’t believe it,” said Juna.

The siblings said Lachey came across their music videos on YouTube, loved what he heard, and the rest is history.

“We want teens to put themselves out there, and don’t be afraid to sing or do what you want to do. You don’t have to hide it,” said Juna.

America’s Most Musical Family will premiere on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon USA and YTV in Canada.

The winner will receive a recording contract with Republic Records and a $250,000 cash prize.

Good luck Juna N Joey!!

Siblings hope to take home top prize record deal and $250,000

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Juna and Joey Defeo could very well be on their way to achieving their biggest dreams.

The siblings, who attend Dreyfoos School of the Arts, will soon be contestants on a Nickelodeon show called “America’s Most Musical Family”

“We filmed it this summer, so it was like a crazy experience,” Juna Defeo said.

“When we went to Los Angeles, there were so many families and it was, like, so competitive,” Joey Defeo said.

Juna, 14, plays the piano and has been singing since she was 3 years old.

Joey, 17, is a guitarist and has been singing for a few years.

Their group is called Juna N Joey.

The television show features 30 families.

Five families will compete each week over the course of three months.

The judges select the top three bands, and the audience votes for two of those bands to move to the next round.

“To know that we’re going to be on the channel with our favorite stars is, like, incredible,” Juna Defeo said.

The top prize is a record deal and $250,000.

The siblings said if they win, they would buy more equipment to help their goal of being country pop performers.

“I would just love to hear our song on the radio. That would be pretty cool,” Joey Defeo said.

“The record deal would be amazing and we could start moving along a lot faster and push ourselves out there even more,” Juna Defeo said.

The Defeos will be on the first show, which airs Friday at 7 p.m. on Nickelodeon.

The siblings said they plan to have a watch party with family and friends.
